Bound, Spanked and Loved: Fourteen Kinky Valentine’s Day Stories Review

More than an assortment of sexy, flash fiction, Bound, Spanked and Loved: Fourteen Kinky Valentine’s Day Stories  is a 443 page collection of erotic stories that gives all fourteen showcased authors the space to tell compelling tales of personal exploration.

Overall, I found all of the stories to be well written and carefully edited. However, if would be difficult to discuss them all in detail due to the number of narratives included in the volume. With that in mind, I have selected three of my favorite stories from the collection to illustrate some of the content offered in this work.

Master Class: Initiation by Sierra Cartwright:

As the name implies, Master Class: Initiation depicts a novice’s first exploration of BDSM at the hands of skillful Dom. Though she has friends who are engaged in BDSM, and has even procured her own leather flogger, Jennifer Berklee has never experienced a man who can make her long for submission.

Though her first experience with St. Andrew’s Cross at her friend Noelle’s party leaves her unfulfilled, the scene attracts the attention of an experienced Master named Logan Powell. A detective and veteran who is healing from a broken heart, Logan finds himself fixated on Jennifer.  With the intervention of their mutual friend, Noelle, both Logan and Jennifer find themselves invited to a special Valentine’s Day party – one at which they are the only guests.

One of my favorite short stories in Bound, Spanked and Loved, I found Master Class: Initiation to be exceptionally well developed. It is not easy to create characters that are appealing and believable in only 43 pages, but Sierra Cartwright accomplishes this task with aplomb. Furthermore, her story does an excellent job of encapsulating an effective sexual fantasy – sufficiently plausible that a reader can invest emotionally, but bold enough to provide an escape from day-to-day inhibitions.

His to Take by Kallista Dane:

Raised in an Earthly future in which human sexual urges are repressed with synthetic hormones, Selena first encounters her lover, Haldor, when he is sent through a Star Portal in an attempt to save his life from a battle injury. As his physician, Selena spends weeks by his bedside and ultimately succumbs to her growing desire for him.

However, their mutual love has not been enough to ease her transition into a difficult new world and Haldor grows frustrated with her restlessness and disobedience – both of which could endanger her life amid an unforgiving landscape.

Selena seeks the wise counsel of a community elder, Ingrid. A healing woman who understands as much about the heart as she does the body, she reintroduces Selena to the practice of medicine to restore her sense of purpose. While helping Ingrid does, in fact, reawaken Selena’s spirit, a well-meant misjudgment proves perilous when she disobeys her husband’s guidance.

Desperate to remain with the man she loves, Selena accepts Haldor’s discipline and implores him to claim her in every way that he desires.

His to Take immerses the reader in a rich fantasy world complete with Star Portals, Iridian Crystals and an Earth devoid of passion from which our heroine flees. Ms. Dane crafts the landscape of her story with great care and, of the tales presented in Bound, Spanked and Loved, her work presents one of the best examples of a complete and well developed love story.

Furthermore, in Selena, the author crafts a heroine who finds fulfillment not only in her sexual surrender to her lover, but also in the rediscovery of her love of healing. With a greater social purpose beyond her sexual relationship, Selena demonstrates that enjoyment of sexual submission does not undermine the value of a woman’s intelligence and strength.

Claiming Chloe by Korey Mae Johnson:

When Chloe’s car breaks down near the landing site of the Lothyrians, the extraterrestrial authorities, she is pulled into an adventure that she never imagined possible. Detained by the United States government for her unwillingness to keep her experience a secret, she is given a choice – remain quarantined for the rest of her life or leave with her alien overlords.

Though the names Malo, Tick and Dax may not suggest smoldering sex appeal, Chloe observes that, aside from a few minor differences from human males, her new companions are quite handsome. Moreover, they are sincerely interested in her happiness and pleasure as their mate.

However, Chloe is accustomed to the ways of Earth and is reluctant to obey the wishes of her lovers – even as they try to protect her from the dangers of her new life as a space traveler.

In Claiming Chloe, Korey Mae Johnson offers a very unique contribution to the  Bound, Spanked and Loved collection. A light-hearted tale, Claiming Chloe embraces its unrealistic elements and presents a humorous story about a feisty, girl-next-door who becomes the beloved sexual companion of three sexy aliens.

The sexual scenes, though involving multiple partners, are initiated by the heroine and emphasize her pleasure, as well as her growing confidence at being the sole focus of the devotion of three men. Amid a sub-genre of erotic stories that can be dark and serious in tone, Claiming Chloe brings welcome playfulness to BDSM and multiple partner erotica.

Overall, I found Bound, Spanked and Loved: Fourteen Kinky Valentine’s Day Stories ro be a thoughtfully-assembled and provocative showcase of erotic stories with varied content for nearly every reader.

However, I should mention that the sexual content in Bound, Spanked and Loved: Fourteen Kinky Valentine’s Day Stories may be a bit extreme for some readers. Themes of sexual humiliation, group sex and anal sex are explored and strong language toward women is used in some stories.

That said, I would also note that, while some stories may push readers’ boundaries, they are ultimately in a similar predicament to the heroines in the compilation – encountering new experiences that they are welcome to accept or deny.

All stories in the anthology are love stories and conclude with individuals finding partners who understand their deepest needs. The stories in this work present different approaches to sexual power exchange and invite the reader to consider their own established and unexplored desires with curiosity, humor and a sense of personal empowerment.
